$10.3M awarded to interactive, digital media projects
Toronto, July 11 2016 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced today that 14 innovative, interactive, digital media projects received a total of $10.3M in funding as part of the first round of production support from the 2016-2017 Experimental Stream – Innovation Program. The Experimental Stream encourages the creation of interactive digital media content and software applications.
Consumers will have access to a variety of new interactive digital content including nine games, three software applications, and two platforms using virtual reality.
Including this round of funding, the CMF has already provided more than $154.3M in production funding to 268 innovative projects since the Experimental Stream was created in 2010.
Production support provides funding for the creation of a final, market-ready version of an eligible project and preliminary marketing and commercialization activities.

A jury of Canadian and international industry specialists evaluated the “innovation” and “production team” criteria of projects receiving production support. This round’s jury consisted of Stephane D'Astous; Richard Lachman; Laurent Lasalle; Jason Lewis; Isabelle Marazzani; Liz Rosenthal; Patrice Slupowski; and Paula Zuccotti. At the end of July, the CMF will announce projects receiving funds for development support and marketing support from the Experimental Stream – Innovation Program.
