$9.5M awarded to 12 interactive digital media projects
Toronto, July 20 2018 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) announced today that 12 digital media projects received a total of $9.5M in funding as part of the first round of production support from the 2018-2019 Experimental Stream – Innovation Program. The Experimental Stream encourages the creation of interactive digital media content and software applications.
Audiences will have access to a variety of new digital content including eight games, two software applications, and two rich interactive media application.
Including this round of funding, the CMF has already provided more than $201.6M in production funding to 342 innovative projects since the Experimental Stream was created in 2010.
Production support provides funding for the creation of a final, market-ready version of an eligible project and preliminary marketing and commercialization activities.

A jury of Canadian and international industry specialists evaluated the “innovation” and “production team” criteria of projects submitted for production support. This round’s jury consisted of Toby Coffey (London, U.K.); Nicholas Fortugno (New York City); Cortney Harding (New York City); Valérie Hénaire (Québec City); Benjamin Hoguet (Bordeaux, France); Suzanne Lortie (Montréal); and Catherine Mathys (Montréal). In the next few weeks, the CMF will announce projects receiving funds for development support and marketing support from the Experimental Stream – Innovation Program.
