The CMF and Telefilm Canada present Analog

Starting November 28, the CMF and Telefilm Canada present Analog, a series of half-day conferences on creativity and the transformations underway in the screen-based industry

Toronto, October 9, 2019 — In collaboration with Telefilm Canada, the Canada Media Fund (CMF) announces the Analog conference series, a new can't-miss event for audiovisual professionals.

Curated by the CMF, Analog will unfold in three phases and in three Canadian cities: Montréal (November 28), Vancouver (December 3) and Toronto (December 6). Presenting leaders of Canada’s cultural, creative and technological scenes, the three events will be free and their common theme will be creativity and artificial intelligence.

The conference series will feature David Usher, creator of the interactive work We Could Be Human: A Learning Machine that the audience will have the opportunity to try out on site. The musician and founder of Reimagine AI, a creative studio specializing in AI, will chat with the CMF’s director of industry and market trends, Catherine Mathys. The event will also include a panel featuring artificial intelligence specialists from different backgrounds.

By presenting this series, the CMF intends to create a new hotspot to, on the one hand, reflect our industry’s major issues and main trends and, on the other hand, promote interdisciplinary networking.

“Our goal is to create a moment of truce, a sort of creative bubble that will inspire the screen-based industry to push back the frontiers of what is possible. More than ever before, I think that it’s by getting together and inspiring ourselves from what others know that we will be able to give meaning to the digital transformations.” — Catherine Mathys, Director of Industry and Market Trends, Canada Media Fund.

The list of panellists, discussion topics and schedule will be announced soon.
