CMF and Ciclic Sign First Dedicated Audiovisual-Sector Partnership Between Canada and a Region of France
Montreal, November 18, 2021 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Ciclic Centre-Val de Loire are joining forces to encourage the pre-development and development of television or digital media projects between Canadian and French regional production companies. Please click here to review the guidelines.
Starting in 2022, an envelope of $300,000, funded equally by the CMF and Ciclic Centre-Val de Loire, will be dedicated entirely to audiovisual projects in pre-development or development by Canadian and French production companies. The initiative will allow the two funding agencies to support pre-development projects up to $15,000 and development projects up to $75,000. Documentaries, dramas, and animated series for television, as well as digital media projects, are eligible.
The call for projects is now open with a January 30, 2022, deadline for funding applications. Projects will be evaluated and selected by a committee of representatives from the CMF and Ciclic.
“This incentive offers creators in both countries the opportunity to extend their geographic and creative storytelling boundaries,” said CMF president and CEO Valerie Creighton. “Canada and France have enjoyed a long history of successful co-production. Because of our close ties, it was only fitting to encourage partnerships that spark innovation for creators on both sides of the Atlantic.”
“I’m delighted with this new agreement with our partners at the Canada Media Fund,” said Ciclic Centre-Val de Loire director Philippe Germain. “It’s a testament to our spirit of invention, our capacity for research and development in terms of support, our flexibility, and our innovative nature when it comes to new forms of public participation in supporting the professionals of our regions and opening doors for them to the international market.”
