CMF and Spcine launch new immersive media codevelopment incentive
Toronto/São Paulo, December 1, 2020 - The Canada Media Fund (CMF) and Spcine, the agency responsible for media funding in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, launched a joint program that encourages codevelopment and prototyping of immersive media projects. We believe creators in this space, both in Canada and Brazil, will benefit immensely from this codevelopment incentive through the sharing of ideas, know-how and resources,” said Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, CMF.
“For Brazilian creators joining forces with Canadian producers in the co-development of immersive project will present an excellent opportunity to more deeply explore this market, the culture, and bring them together. Spcine is thrilled to join forces once more with CMF. The first time we collaborated, the result was very positive, and we hope for the same now,” said Malu Andrade, Spcine Executive Director.
The incentive budget is set at CAN$ 100,000 (or approximately BRL 400,000), to which each organization will contribute half of the total amount. Projects must involve at least one São Paulo-based production company and one Canadian production company.
Eligible projects are international codevelopment or prototyping project of immersive content that are either a virtual reality, augmented reality or mixed reality project; are innovative or experimental; are developed on an appropriate platform (or platforms) with regards to content and audiences; and focus on storytelling that has the potential to cross national boundaries and carries cultural content.
