CMF invests $4.3M in 22 diverse language projects
Toronto, November 21, 2023 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced that 22 projects will receive a total of $4.3M in production funding through our Diverse Languages Program, which supports projects reflecting Canadian diversity in languages other than English, French, or Indigenous languages.
The successful applicants have submitted projects in Italian, Spanish, Russian, Tagalog, Ukrainian, Serbian, Japanese, and Farsi. 14 are documentaries, four are dramas, one falls in the Variety and Performing Arts category, and three projects fall under the Children and Youth umbrella.
This $4.3M investment includes $400K earmarked for the Diverse Languages Program from the $20M investment in French-language content and underrepresented creators announced earlier this month.
