CMF to support six interactive and immersive projects selected for funding through the Indigenous Screen Office’s Interactive and Immersive Program
Toronto and Ohsweken, May 15, 2025 — The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today announced a $500,000 investment in six projects selected for funding through the Indigenous Screen Office’s (ISO) 2024-2025 Interactive and Immersive Program.
The projects are:
- Mekwâc: “Now Is Good”,an immersive art installation by Ontario’s James Monkman Studio Inc. ($87,500 in production funding)
- Ectopia, an interactive art exhibition by British Columbia’s Tooth & Nail Pictures LTD. ($85,000 in production funding)
- Home - Piikaniksaahko (Piikani Land), a VR documentary by 1479865 B.C. LTD. ($122,500 in production funding)
- The Drop, a video game by British Columbia’s Spotted Fawn Productions Inc. ($72,500 in development funding)
- Untitled Evil Within, an XR/VR project by Ontario’s First Nation Creations Productions Inc. ($60,000 in development funding)
- Sunalimat, a VR project by Ontario’s Tiger Mister Productions Inc. ($72,500 in development funding)
Part of the ISO’s Story Fund stream, the Interactive and Immersive Program allocates funds for the development and production of high-calibre videogames, AR/VR/XR works, apps, and immersive and/or interactive projects that include audiovisual content. The CMF came onboard as a partner to this program last fall, bringing its total budget to $900,000.
