The Canada Media Fund publishes Performance Envelope allocations
The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today posted the 2012-2013 Performance Envelope allocations to its website. Allocations per broadcaster can be found at cmf-fmc.ca or by clicking here.
On February 2 2012, the CMF announced modifications to the Factor Weights used to calculate Performance Envelopes for the 2012-2013 fiscal year. A Performance Envelope is calculated by measuring a broadcaster's performance against that of other broadcasters in each genre in language, based on six weighted factors: audience success – total hours tuned, audience success – original first run, historic performance, regional licensing, above-threshold licensing (French broadcasters only) and digital media investment. All factor weight details are outlined in the Envelope Manual which can be found on cmf-fmc.ca or by clicking here.
On April 3 2012, 62 English broadcasters shared $182 million and 29 French broadcasters $89 million in envelope allocations for use in the 2012-2013 fiscal year.
On April 10 2012, broadcasters were also allocated envelopes that they can use to support development projects. These envelopes were calculated by using two factors weighted at 50% each: historic performance in development and the share of total 2012-2013 Performance Envelopes.
