In the 2021 budget, the Government of Canada announced that the CMF would distribute $5 million over two years (2021-2022 and 2022-2023) to support the recovery of productions from third-language communities. This mandate aligns with the CMF’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the screen industry.

Applicants may be eligible to receive a maximum contribution of $50,000 and may apply with no more than three TV projects broadcast between April 1, 2022 and November 1, 2022, produced in a language other than English or French, and are the subject of an advertising revenue-share barter agreement with an eligible CRTC broadcaster.

Eligible Projects must be in one of three CRTC Programming categories: Category 1 (News), Category 2a (Analysis and interpretation), or Category 11a (General entertainment and human interest). Projects must also have a CRTC "C" certification as a domestic Canadian Program.

Amongst other eligibility criteria, only producers who have not previously received a funding commitment from the CMF’s Convergent Stream, Experimental Stream, or Sector Development Program are eligible to apply. Applicants must complete and include an Applicant Attestation and a Broadcaster Verification Form along with their application.

Applications will be accepted starting November 15, 2022. Deadline to apply is January 12, 2023. Please note this financing is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
