CMF launches Perspectives, a new foresight and innovation publication
Toronto, November 9, 2023 – The Canada Media Fund (CMF) today published the first edition of Perspectives, a new publication from our Foresight and Innovation team that succeeds our Key Trends Report. Split into three chapters, this inaugural issue, titled Flipping the Screen, dives into the digital creator economy, its contours, its rules, and its changing face as it expands out of our phones to conquer other, larger screens.

“The CMF is more than just a funding source for Canada’s audiovisual industry. We also provide valuable data and insights that enable stakeholders and creators to navigate the complex and dynamic media landscape, anticipate and adapt to changes, and seize opportunities whenever they arise,” says CMF President and CEO Valerie Creighton. “This first edition of Perspectives is dedicated to digital creators and the vibrant world of the creator economy, which is especially pertinent as the CMF has just recently launched our Pilot Program for Digital Creators.”
“Backed by the latest data and analysis, this first issue of Perspectives provides an overview of the forces at play and helps us better understand the dynamics at work in this race for audiences and attention that is rapidly reshaping our industry,” adds Florence Girot, the CMF’s Senior Manager of Foresight & Innovation.
The publication of this fall issue coincides with the Digital First Canada Summit, an event taking place as part of the 10th annual Buffer Festival. During the summit, Florence Girot will be joining creators Carley Thorne, Fred Bastien, and Chris Rizzi to discuss themes addressed in the first issue of Perspectives.
Perspectives is offered as a downloadable PDF available on the CMF website.
